HISTORY/ BIO

Isamar is a multi-disciplinary artist whose creative practice thrives in the wilderness of radical imagination. Ranging from textile art, metalsmithing, fashion, jewelry design, dance, and music.

With a focus on textiles, Isamar explores the relationship between textile and identity as a means of communication and self-expression, creating a profound connection to the past and celebrating cultural heritage. Drawing from her Afro-Latin lineage and ancestral roots, Isamar's work reflects her unique perspective as well as the rich cultural tapestry of her upbringing.

Born in Puerto Rico and raised in the Bronx, Isamar has been deeply influenced by the vibrant arts scene of New York City. Throughout her 30+ years of experience in the fashion industry, Isamar has honed her skills and developed a keen eye for design. By utilizing the body as a canvas, Isamar delves into the transformative power of adornment, allowing you to flourish in your own authenticity.

Her work has been featured at Art Basel Miami and various exhibitions throughout New York. Inspiration has been abundant throughout the many facets of Isamar’s life, from her decades of work as a model for top designers to jewelry design at the Fashion Institute of Technology.

In addition to her work as an artist, Isamar founded Hula Nation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating embodied joy, fitness, and community through art and movement workshops around the world.
